The Department of Agriculture- Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region 6 is set to celebrate the Fish Conservation Week on September 17 to 20, 2019.

The Fish Conservation Week which is commemorated every third week of October in the past through Proclamation No. 176, s. 1993 and as mandated in the Philippine Fisheries Code (RA 8550 s. 1998), was transferred to the third week of September as part of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA MO) by virtue of Presidential Proclamation 316 series of 2017.

On the 56th year of the Fish Con Week, DA-BFAR emphasizes the need to increase yield and profit through sustainable and healthy fisheries with the theme, “Itaguyod ang Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan Tungo sa Maganang ANI at MATAAS na KITA sa Industriya ng Pangisdaan”.

This year’s observance will showcase the highlights of the annual celebration with the involvement and participation of the fisherfolks, government agencies, local government units, Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and schools.
